Hello, Pot, You are Black

Truth on Tate LaBianca may have a few dried up old law and order farts (hi Dillagf) and I still need to find out what went wrong with EvilLiz, but it is the single best TLB site currently on the web since Bret went Wit Pro. And Cats who runs it is a fellow warrior in the fight for TLB truth- I love this broad!

There is this other site that basically steals from other people. It is called the Helter Skelter Forum. I am on there under a couple of nom de plumes because they wouldn't let the genius Col on board to run rings around them. They steal from Cats, from Cielo Drive 69. There are self hating gay dudes on there stealing, some psycho twat named Martine and the owner who may or may not be a dude.

The owner recently put this notice up I wanted to share with you. Because it is fucking funny. I am not even sure the owner is from the US so I am not sure why they are getting so butthurt and quoting US copyright laws. But boy it is fucking funny. I am watching you- the paranoid ramblings of the guilty. I mean, you know how crooks always scream the loudest.

I am off to file some DMCA notices just for shits and giggles.

Losers.

Why don't you just ignore those people if you don't like them? why bother arguing, conversing, or letting yourself get worked up over people if they are ignorant??? This is the only Manson blog I read, or contribute to... But if you make such a big deal about it- you bring attention to it... Does it matter who says they know what?? The whole thing is a mystery- thats why it so interesting. Until the day- if it ever comes- we find out for sure- half the intrigue is in the speculation... So I say let the morons sound moronic- and let them have the place they can all be moronic together :)

As long as the serious inquisitive minds have a place to gather without the B.S.- what should we care if a group of posers want to tell each other stories?? Until I read about them on this post- I never would have even known they existed.

When I first stumbled across this post- I read every post as far back as it would let me go.. The writing is witty, and the conversations are excellent. Col.- you have a great, and interesting way of making your points, and most of the people in here debate those points respectfully, and with great heart.

What you do well is far more important than what others do lamely- in my opinion....

I don't think these people should be ignored. When they help themselves to material that others have taken years to meticulously research, they need to be exposed for the lying cheaters that they are...
We all lose when Cats has to lock down her site in order to protect her work from these thieves.

Matt said...

I couldn't agree more, Marliese. Thank you to the fine investigators who give us all of this good info to read & learn about. Their work should NEVER be re-posted without due credit and links.

Anonymous said...

Well- then I guess maybe this wont be the place for me...

We are ALL amateur investigators who are interested in the same subject. None of us were there, and none of the information we find is copyrighted to us personally, as none of it is original to any of us...

People are taking what they find interesting and new and passing it on. When Marliese gives me information on places to visit, and AC tells me of a book I have never heard of- would I be stealing or claiming false credit if i told a friend about these things???

I come here a few times a week to hear new information ,or hear various opinions- looking for something new.... Lately alot of the posts are name calling and arguing over who knows more about what, and who is a " real" this or that.....

Unless someone was there in August 69 we are all in the same boat... Speculating, and guessing as much as anything else....

But when I graduated High School- I gave up the name calling, and dropped the my cligue is better than your clique attitudes. If something/someone bothers me, I ignore it and move on..

I have never seen anyone in this room start or say anything negative about anyone or subject in this room since I stared coming in here.. Why attack someone else for what they say or do when it has zero effect on me and what I am doing whatsoever???

Again- if it weren't for this post- It would never been part of my universe..

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery as someone once said- if they are taking your information -it probably means they cant find interesting stuff of there own...

More time less spent getting new stuff to talk about, and less time worrying about what others were doing- and there would be real topics to discuss, and less disagreement among ourselves over childish things like this...

This was a good place to read for while, and I picked up a few new things from some of you which I appreciate immensely.

But, I am over the who is cooler than who, and the who knows more than who B.S... What does it matter??

I have read so many books and watched so much video- I thought some good interaction with other real people would add something, and it has :)

For that- I Thank you all

For what it is worth- life has enough distractions you cant do anything about- don't let yourselves get frustrated by the ones you can.. Let these other blogs be like a page in a new Manson book... when you get the stuff you already know or have heard, dont spend the whole day bitching that the fact the facts aren't original, or who came up with them first- just turn the page :)

Sounds a little disingenuous to me Saint. I'm pretty sure that in a previous comment you said that this site is the only Manson related one you visit, if so I'd venture to say that you don't know what you're talking about.

Cats has invested years of intellectual, emotional and financial expense in building what the Col. acknowledges as the finest extant resource site on the subject.

There have been examples of these people reprinting without credit material that Cats has either paid for, or worse, been given in trust as a result of a developed personal relationship.

They're bitter monosyllabic douchbag charlatans. Please stop me before I start any churlish name-calling...

Marliese said...

I don't believe you'd be stealing if you passed along information I gave you about visiting sites, or recommended a book AC referred to you....but those examples don't compare to stealing research that someone else compiled with great and conscientious care over the course of many years.

Why not do the simple thing of offering credit where credit is due? Maybe to make it look like whatever it was is their discovery or their original idea, a result of their personal cleverness?
And why do they get so instantly nasty when caught and start snarling like pitbulls when told that crediting sources is the decent thing to do? When sources are given, all of us move along the links and find the sites...that's how we meet each other, share opinions, and learn even more.

I may not understand where you're coming from with this, but i've appreciated how brilliantly you write and learned a lot from you here.
Enjoy your travels in the Great State of California next year.

~Marliese

oh btw, go back far enough and you'll find a personal attack or two...no blog is immune. There was a man here that couldn't put two words together without making a personal judgment against someone and then whine about how he had to leave. I'd think so go already then. My character was attacked when I opposed compassionate release for Susan Atkins...I didn't understand. Not like I was the one that held down a pregnant woman while she was hacked to death hissing 'look bitch, i don't care if you're gonna have a baby, you're gonna die and you better be ready.' But that's a whole other story...

See ya

Hmmm.
Hail all, its been awhile. I knew Col would inspire me to voice my thoughts again sooner or later.

Well, I for one posted several unique pictures on Cats' site. I didn't like to see them taken. Cats & I discussed watermarking, but its rather a waste due to Photoshop.
I posted the pictures to share them with the community. However, in my opinion, sharing is looking not reposting elsewhere without giving any credit.
I had no intentions of selling them, but I'm sure someone else did. I was ready to see them on eBay, etc. I took some of the "never before seen" ones down with the intentions of watermarking. Some I left up, like the mugshot where Nancy looks absolutely terrible. There were others that Cats had posted on my behalf, which were very unique, definitely taken & reposted elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the bottom line seems to be if you don't want to see your private collection scattered across the web, keep it to yourself. I knew that going in, I was a wallflower in the Manson researchers' online community since Nelson's first site. I'd seen all the drama throughout those years, but I still tend to be naively optimistic about people.

starship said...

Just my two cents: I hear people say Cats' site is the best, but, frankly, I find it hard to navigate and so barely ever go there. I much prefer the format here rather than the message board style. I'm probably missing out, but I don't have the time to put in the effort needed...

Marliese said...

mpaul, i think you may be on to something. I hadn't put it together with that particular poster.
Yes...disingenuous...

Anonymous said...

Mpaul I will respond to that- I have never been on any other site, and I Don't know who Liz/ Evilcats, or Nelson are. That was my exact point. I come into this room to learn and talk about Manson related issues. Not to listen to people whine about other people, and talk about sneaking into other rooms under false names to spy and argue. That is fifth grade B.S. And, if that is what you guys want to do, and that is what any of these other people do- I don't want to be a part of it. It doesn't teach me anything, or interest me. When it comes to that crap- You got me- I don't know what I am talking about, nor will I ever... Do I need to be a member of the " Cool Gang" to chat in here? I have a very satisfying status in my real life, and could give a frogs fat ass who knows me or thinks I am any better than anyone else, or more knowledgeable than anyone else on the internet. I promise you that is a fact :)If I found a pic of Charlie having sex with Sharon- I promise you it wouldn't matter to me who gets credit for it online... Being the " one who posted it first" isn't going to make my life any more meaningful in any way. If it would do that for you- trust me I am the type of guy would gladly let you have it.... I guess these type of things just don't matter much to me.... BUT-

If it means so much to some of you who gets credit for what- I promise going forward to be more respectful - but really.... So many blogs and conversations in here have to revolve around who knows more about what??? I am disingenuous because I think this is an immature waste of time??

I learned tons of stuff reading this site, and I will reserve my right to say what I feel. I hoped to be a friend in here, and I have tried to be very respectful- even when I disagree...

But if your going to pick on the Saint for expressing his feelings...

LOL Nahhh I am not going to go there :)

Here is to hoping this blog will soon go back to conversations that matter...

And to all of you who spend so much of your time collecting and gathering pictures, and articles that have never been seen, and benefit us all- Thank you for your efforts very much. It is this new subject matter that I haven't seen anywhere else that made me come to this site in the first place, and that will keep me coming back :)

But as with anything in life.. when your good work becomes obscured by your drive to call attention to yourself for it- then is draws the attention away from your work and directs it at yourself. I don't think most of you care about that so much as that you want people to respect you, and just give you a little credit for your discoveries. Unfortunately some people in this world wont do that without some help. And the good news is that help exists....

Copyright :) LOL Now how disingenuous was that??????

Saint,

My "don't know what you're talking about" comment was a little intemperate but entirely specific to this subject. I think the actual source of my anger was clearly not you.

It's not about cooler than thou cliques or one-upmanship, it's simply a matter of giving credit and links and not passing off others efforts as your own. A matter of common respect.

When did that become bullshit?

Like you, I'm looking for information irrespective of where it comes from but you seem to suggest that people who have spent years researching/collating/archiving and have a justifiable pride in their work are just insecure narcissists if they object to the wholesale lifting from their sites.

I don't get it.

Incidentally, I enjoy your posts. (and "frogs fat ass" made me laugh mine off).

Well in the Spirit of admitting I am wrong when so many people I respect seem to think so....

The "Frogs Fat ass" comment came from Chevy Chase in the movie Vacation :)

Maybe I need to go look at some of these other sites, and get some appreciation for things I am so easy to write of as not so important....

I apologize if anyone was offended!

Damn, here I am in California for the 7th time from Europe, the 5th time I was here, like, lets go to CD etc, the 6 th time in 2008, I got there and saw...where DW used to live , then Spahn Ranch, Portola dr, etc..etc...and you know what ?...that’s it for me !...there are so many more positive entities around, that I got really fed up with the family stuff, and racism too, and fascism...etc... because it relies basicaly on LIES....
I really wanted , this year, to check, Bakers Ranch, but ...damn...they were such a band of losers that I did not have the energy to go there, I'll go instead to see the Trona Pinnacles, , allthought I `m in hollydays for 2 weeks in Venice Beach, CA...
now the next book in nov, will CM talk about the 23 march 1969 ???...were he went twice to CD ? ...if he does I would be the first surprised, ....but I doubt very much.

I just got my copy of " Leslie My name is Evil" ( They changed the name to Manson for US distribution.)

I watched it last night late and I am not sure if this was intended to be a comedy, but if it was anything it was funny to me... Way over the top acting- especially the Sadie Character. But this is the first thing that I have seen which really portrays Charlie as a user who really didnt even pretend to care about some of them... Also the actor who played Leslie was not bad, and as i have said before- LULU has always been my favorite :) This movie probably is no better than any of the others in the grand scheme of things- but they made LULU out to be exactly the way I have imagined she was so many times in my head-
I specifically bough this for the LULU factor....
so this one is getting a thumbs up from me!!!!

Reprinted from an online Article:

True Blood" star Ryan Kwanten has a killer new role - he's signed up to play cult leader Charles Manson. The Australian actor is gearing up to play the convicted killer in the as-yet-untitled project, which will be directed by Brad Anderson.

Manson is serving a life prison sentence for seven counts of murder and one of conspiracy to murder after coordinating a killing spree in the late 1960s as the leader of the Manson Family

From another source:

Ryan Kwanten has been cast as notorious killer Charles Manson in a new film.

The True Blood star announced at a press conference for his current film Red Hill that he is to play the convicted criminal in director Brad Anderson's The Family.

The picture is believed to focus primarily on Manson's years as the leader of his murderous cult, rather than depicting his entire life story.

Manson is currently serving a life prison sentence for seven counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to murder which date back to late 1960s.

The killer has already been the subject of a 2003 horror called The Manson Family.

Pristash says: as if the only film Manson has been portrayed in was in 2003...

Could we finally getting a "real" movie on this subject?????

The goal is to do, finally, after forty years, the first authentic film about the so-called Manson Family. Unlike other films on the subject, The Family will also spend time getting to know the victims, particularly Sharon Tate, who will be portrayed very sympathetically. I don’t think a responsible movie can be made about this subject without humanizing the victims, which must be done in order to truly convey – as much as a film is able to – the enormity of the tragedy. This won’t be a slasher film, but it won’t gloss over the violence either.

He maintains that while the persecution of the family has been well addressed and documented, this will be the project to demonstrate “who they were and what their lives were like with Manson.”

Casting will be everything. Not being a True Blood watcher, I can’t say if Ryan Kwanten is right for the role, though I like what I’ve seen of him in Red Hill. But Manson was kind of small, definitely scrawny. In the ’60s and ’70s he looked like a shorter Jeremy Davies, the most appropriate actor to be cast as Manson so far. I’m not sure what Kwanten will bring to the part, but I’ll have to see him in action before I’m really ready to buy it.

Matt said...

I doubt that there will ever be a Manson movie that I will like.

None have ever explored the crimes and their motives outside of HS.

None have ever explored the day-to-day communal atmosphere at Spahn.

None have ever delved into Crowe/Hinman/Shea.

Let's pass the hat & make our own damned movie.
