Parole denied for Manson follower Bruce Davis
Bruce Davis is serving two life sentences for two 1969 slayings. The state Board of Parole Hearings rejected Davis' release in a 9-0 decision Monday after a hearing at California State Prison, Solano.
State corrections officials say it was the 24th time his release has been rejected.
Davis was convicted of helping kill musician Gary Hinman in his Topanga Canyon home. He later helped murder former stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea. The stuntman lived in Manson's commune at the Spahn movie ranch in Chatsworth.
The 65-year-old Davis has since married and fathered a daughter. He earned a doctorate in theology in prison and now ministers to other inmates.
His attorney, Michael Beckman, says his client is no longer a danger to society.

I wonder if Debra went and stuck her nose in to this hearing too.
Thanks so much for sharing Col. I posted this to KTS so they could see it too.

Hi Heaven , Every thing is great with me. I hope your great too!
Well, it was written up on Debra's website, 60s Kid.
One small correction to the article: Mr. Shea did NOT "live in Manson's commune". He was a ranch hand, and lived in his own quarters at Spahn Ranch. He was there before Charles, et. al. moved in.
Too bad Bruce couldn't have delayed his hearing until after the changing of the political guard.
Quote for the day: "Even as we're talking here, like 10, 15 species are dying. All over the world. Some boogaloo butterfly or balala bird in the rain forest is gone, man, gone forever, gone for good."
More remarks from Savage on his blog regarding Bret. All comments are denied.
Before we assume fraud, or hiding, or legal trouble, I have to ask... is Bret OK? Possibly illness, death in the family, money troubles or other problems, could explain his absence.
Let me hasten to say, I don't wish him ill. While I've disagreed with Bret a few times, I am hoping that he is all right.
Another parole hearing another denial.
Why do they even keep trying ?
I can't imagine any of them will ever be released.
I feel embarassed and ashamed for them when I watch those parole hearing videos.
I guess at least Charles Manson has realized it and didn't show up for his last hearing.
Did Bruce Davis know where Shorty's body was all those years too ? Or just Grogan ?
As always Thanks and good stuff Col !
GOD, why couldn't it have been Savage that disappeared instead of Bret ?
Anyone know when Pat's hearing is? Last word put off 'til April 2008... then postponed again..has to be some time soon. I don't expect a different outcome than Bruce. Would like to read the transcript of that hearing.'Lil
Hi Lil ! Good to see you again.
Interesting question. I for one do not know but I was wondering does the board still make Pat, Leslie, Bruce and Bobby recall thier crime during the hearing ?
By the way, Hello to 60skid ! Heaven ! AC ! and all others !
Hope life is well with you all !
Hiya Brian, good to see you again.
Everything's just fine... Life is good!
Oh does anyone know when Leslie's next hearing is? I guess they're all coming up for their hearings..
=)
Hi Brian, and hello to all! Absolutely! At every hearing they still thoroughly cover their crimes. Everytime! The lawyers spend a lot of time during the hearings trying to mitigate their time served and accomplishments in prison to counteract. For sure, their crime is 1st and foremost. The infamy of this case keeps them in prison today...just ask Bobby Beausoleil.
(Heaven.. I think it's still quite a few years 'til leslie's next hearing...)
Again...any news on katie's hearing? Anyone?
Col, thanks for this on Davis.
I don't think 'quite a few years' for Leslie. She was given a two year denial at her last hearing a year ago and since she never misses her hearings, she'll be up again in Sept '09...just in time for the 40th anniversary.
Doesn't she have a lawsuit pending...some political prisoner junk or something?
I wonder if Katie keeps postponing because she knows she's never getting out anyway? They must see that with denial after denial for each of them over the years.
Hi Brian...good to see you back. They do go over the crimes, but you know, the last few hearings, princess van houten has said that she will not be talking about the crimes. How's that for the families sitting there, you know? She says she's sincerely remorseful, but she no longer wants to talk about why she's locked up.
Is there any news about Susan's condition? If they had granted her a compassionate release, and she didn't die accordingly, could it have been revoked?
Oh yes that's right, Leslie's hearing is next year.
Sorry bout that!
Marliese good question about Susan. I've been wondering how she's doing too. Last I heard she was improving.
=)
Hi everyone! Nice picture Brian.
Youse guys are correct; talking about the crime is standard operating procedure at any parole hearing.
I understand it from the prisoners' point of view (of course!) that if you feel unjustly imprisoned, and the prosecution team insists on discussing the henious nature of the crime, rather than the liklihood of recidivism... it can be rather frustrating. It's often stated "There is no question that this crime occurred, or that you were involved,,," because the individual has been convicted. Protestations of innocence or mitigating circumstances are often stricken from the record.
Also, I was just recenty informed that the victims and families can make any kind of statement about the impact of the crime, and they may not be interrupted nor contradicted. So if a victim's relative were to lie, and state "My sister's throat was cut", the perp could NOT confront them. Not even to correct deliberate misinformation.
Sucks, don't it?

Hey, Col,
A question: I just read The Devil's Dropout which mentions Clem quite a bit and Dennis Rice's kids. The author never mentions seeing any sexual abuse of children. Where have you seen and/or heard about Clem abusing Rice's kids?
