I guess none of us know what has happened with the good Col, and I guess all of us hope that he is well (even if he does curse us for being interfering busybodies).
And I also guess none of us - especially the Col - want the blog to die, so here's a suggestion that we mere mortals keep a dialogue going in his (hopefully temporary) absence.
So forgive me taking the initiative - and if anyone has anthing of interest to say - or news of the Col - please post here.
And I hope I don't get shot out of the sky for abusing my privileges like this ...

If nothing else it's bound to stir the Col into action.
so I'm working at home and my face is buried in my computer while on these stupid conference calls, and I had the movie Forest Gump on in the background because it was on TNT or something.
Anyway I'm in the middle of trying to figure out some really tricky work issue while on the phone with the company tech support people and all of the sudden I hear something like "Squeaky Fromme... Follower of Charles Manson.... Attempted to assassinate..." I guess it was the Tom Hanks character listening to his radio.
I was so startled and surprised, never noticed that in this movie before. I go "whoa!!!!". The people on the call with me said "whoa what?" and I said "oh, never mind."
Anyway it made ME laugh.
With Pat Krenwinkel having to delay her parole hearing all is quiet. While she has no chance of release it will be interesting to see what angle her new attorney uses.
Thanks Jempud for keeping it going!
zoomjaw why did she have to delay? I'm behind on this one. Yeah, Pat I think seems to have made herself comfy-cozy right where she is which is where she belongs. Maybe she'll get out when she's 90.
Ironically, she does (in my opinion) seem to be very rehabilitated and sincerely sorry, if a little disconnected from things at times.
The Monk dice:
that PK seems to be "a little disconnected from things at times".
That's what four decades in jail does to you, I guess. By the time these people are deemed fit to live in society (if ever) they will of course no longer be fit to live in society.
Hey, that's the American justice system. Some countries believe that prison is for (attempted) rehabilitation - but in the Land of the Free, forget it. Prison seems to be to for perpetual punishment (listen to the embittered Debra Tate) ...
Even in my own third world Argentina we try to reform our prisoners ..
And I guess that'll stir a response.
Good work Monk - let's keep this ball rolling till we hear from the Col.
Jem
Agnostic monk,
Her new attorney needed time to prepare for the hearing.I agree she is probably the most remorseful of the family. And she has accepted the sentence and not written books or played the God card as the others have done.
Sorry to see Col ban jem.....why did you ban her?Col.

She's no longer in the Contributor's list... which is a pity as Jem had a lot to offer the discussions.
