Ring a Ding

This ring over at ebay is causing all kinds of a ruckus in fandom. People think it belongs to Debra Tate. People think it is fake. People think it is tacky. People are running around like a chicken with their head cut off. Okay Paige Somebody is.

According to all known sources, Polanski left Sharon's estate to Col (not me) Paul Tate. He wanted nothing to do with any of it. Theoretically, this means that all tangible and intangible property that constituted Sharon's Estate went to her father.

[ Side note- the INTANGIBLE part is extremely important because this includes her name and likeness. If not for that aspect of the waiver by Polanski, POLANSKI would own Sharon's likeness for merchandise, not Debra. For those who care.]

However, this would NOT apply to any keepsakes or goods that Polanski personally distributed to friends or associates BEFORE because legally they were disposed of by him BEFORE the final disposition of the estate to the Tates. If Polanski gave the ring, as it seems, to his Polish producing buddy, then it belongs to him to do with as he wished.

In any case, calling France and shit makes NO sense. The Estate was executed in 1969/1970 and the time to calling into question missing property is LONG over. You can't know say "Oh shit I was looking for that ring for 35 years" especially if you weren't.

THE REAL PROBLEM as this Col sees it is that the ring clearly does have a value of anywhere from $10,000 to $25,000. If Gutowski gave it to his wife Judy, fine. But if Judy GAVE it to Suzanna Leigh for reasons unknown, that GIFT would have to be registered with the IRS because of the sheer size of the value. This would make the ring's provenance easy to trace, not some bullshit letters.

The ring, like the mega collection of documents, clearly will NOT sell.

Let's see what happens next.

I finally got into the Sharon Tate discussion board..

Ok, here's the deal.. Paige called Debra, Debra has no knowledge of this ring. So, Debra called Roman in Paris.. Roman says he never gave Sharon an engagement ring. Sharon had a simple gold band wedding ring that she was buried with. Roman also has no knowledge of Sharon even owning a ring looking like that..

Debra and Roman seem to feel that it was just a piece of costume jewelry with no value at all. So, they're a tad bit upset that someone is passing a piece of junk off as Sharon's, with such a hefty pricetag just waiting for a sucker to come along and bid.

If you look closely at the letter she has posted in her auction, she can't even spell Roman right, she called him Rowan..

You can see Sharon wearing a ring like this in some pictures, but it was a pinky ring...

In my opinion, the ring is a fake and sellers like her should be bitch slapped.

Debra really REALLY needs to get on the Ebay VERO program and put an end to this fake bullshit..

It's one thing to have sellers lining their pockets with real items, but it's another when they're selling fake items...

Here's the links from the KTS board that shows Sharon wearing the ring or one like it...

I agree that the only person who should be able to make money off Sharon's death is Debra. :)

I don't like it either, but sadly, it's a fact of life.

I will never understand why Lisa Marie sold off everything that belonged to Elvis, except Graceland. To me, that is just dicked up. She couldn't have been hard up for money cause she's one of the richest women in America...

My husband is a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, the man wasn't even dead 15 minutes before the vultures were out in full force on Ebay. Items that normally were sold for $50.00 now had a price tag of $800.00.. It's so sad when people cash in on the deaths of others..

I was just telling this to Paige, I am a huge Dorothy Stratten fan (if you don't know who she is, you can do an online search for her.. 20 year old Playmate Of The Year, shot in the head by her husband)
Anyway, I have a very rare picture of her, it's very hard to come by, took me years before I found it. But I did.. I could easily make copies of it and sell them, but I won't, out of respect.

But, others aren't as respectful. I have been in email contact with the seller of "Sharon's ring". She claims to have been a very close friend of Sharon's and that he respected her very deeply. I told her that if she respected her that much, she wouldn't be peddling something that, if were authentic, would be very precious.

Roman has said that Sharon never knew this woman at all. There's nothing worse then selling fake items.. It just really pisses me off..

Anton and Heaven--

It's called sarcasm. I thought if I put the little smiley face at the end everyone would get it. I guess I was wrong.

I don't condone the blood money either. It was an attempt at a bad joke.

Well I could NOT resist, I had to write the seller too.
I hate false auctions too.
And I agree with you Heaven, if she indeed was given that ring by Sharon, it should mean a lot to her, rather then her just cashing in on the Sharon Tate name to get that much money for a messed up ring.
Bren :)

The latest from the Sharon Tate message board. The ring DID belong to Sharon. It wasn't an engagement ring but a piece of costume jewelry that she liked. Lawyers are now involved.

Here is a post from Paige...

>>>Debra just called me a little while ago....

>>>First af all, she wants me to tell you guys >>>thank you so much for always looking out for >>>her....she really appreciates all of your help!! :

>>>Now, all she can say at this point is that >>>there are attorneys involved. The ring was >>>not given to Suzanna Leigh from Judy >>>Gutowski.... That is all the attorneys will let >>>her say at this point...

>>>So now that legal help had to be called in, >>>she feels certain they will take care of this >>>awful situation once and for all.<<<

They are apparently trying to get the ring returned to Debra. They also claim that if someone should happen to buy it that they would not be able to keep it. Kinda like buying stolen property.

Give me a break.

Problem Child,

My post wasn't directed at you. It was just a general statement. Everyone has their own opinions and I respect yours...

=)

I assume they want to get the ring back so they can return it to Judy... But I don't know this for a fact...

LOL Paige always "talked to Debra" and I don't believe it for a minute. In her dreams. That ring looks like crap and I would not pay 2 dollars for it.

LOL "My friend Paige"..again, now we know you are not Debra...

You don't want to lower yourself with that above comment! Surely you want people to think you have SOME dignity.

4Sharon said...

So, has everyone decided that no one gives a flip about this ring? Plus, who the heck would want the crappy thing???? It looks like cheap trash..

No, I would say, LET the dumbass buy the nasty ring. Shame on THEM if they are THAT stupid to buy such an ugly ring that IMO is NOT worth that. I would not pay 50 cents for it.

So, is anyone going to buy this ugly worthless ring?
