What If?

I always liked the Marvel Comic Book WHAT IF?

It played with ideas within the Marvel Universe, speculating What If so and so had lived and changed the world.  Shit like that.  It was fun.

Now I don't want to play "What If?" as in "What if Steven Parent had lived and become a prominent homosexual activist?" or "What if Sharon Tate became a Porn Star?"

No.  I want to play logical games of "What If?"

Today's Subject-

The conventional wisdom is that Shorty was killed for being a snitch.  Maybe.
The reality is most people don't kill someone for almost no reason.  Now you might say that the Family were not "most people" and you would be correct.  But still....

Under my new thinking-

Beausoleil killed because Hinman won't give up the money he was THOUGHT to have.
Frykowski was killed because the killers THOUGHT there was money or drugs in the house.
LaBiancas were killed because the killers THOUGHT there was money in the house.

Shorty's the last canonical slaying unless you believe the Hughes stuff and I do not.  Clem who was not active at LaBianca joins in.  Davis who drove to Hinman but was relatively inactive joins in.

What if he's killed because they THOUGHT he had something they wanted? Not because he knew something.  Not because he squealed.  Because he HAD something they wanted, or they thought he did.

What would that have been?

I am not able to look it up at the moment, but didn't they find a footlocker of Shortys among his other abandoned possessions?

maybe they took something from it, or maybe it was not holding what they though???

Turth be told if robbery turns out to be motive for these crimes- these clowns were the were thiefs in history. Either that or the most misinformed...

What would that have been?

A black wife? A pony?

Interesting, but doesn't sound very promising to me.

No they fucking mutilated the guy while he was still alive and killed him because they thought he had told the police they were stealing cars.

Anything you say Red Riding Hood.

Maybe it was Shorty and not Gary that was thought to have come into an inheritance. I have looked into Gary Hinman's family six ways from Sunday and do not see any possibilities of an inheritance.

As usual, the Col dodges around the obvious TRUTH...The Family was raided shortly before Mr. Shea's death...HELLO !! We're talking The Manson Family here...

What he had was George Spahn's ear as well as Ruby Pearl's. Not a pot of gold, but he stood in the way of ownership of Spahn Ranch.

Louis- what is "truth?" Is it unchanging law? We both have "truths"- are mine the same as yours?

Shorty was arrested in that raid Mr. Louis.
Shorty was tortured and killed. We know what the BUG said happened. The BUG was also pushing an agenda.

I dodge nothing, ass clown. I try to make sense of a fairy tale from an egotistical lawyer who was hated by his co workers and feared by his wife.

Drug informants are regularly arrested with the drug dealers they are informing on. This is how informants are able to stay alive to inform again.

What Frank Reitz wanted to run the Manson Clan off the property and was in talks with Spahn to buy the ranch, what if he told Shorty he was going to hire him as Security and help him get rid of the mansons and a family member overheard this and told Charlie, so Charlie decided they need to kill Shorty.
Not really a what if, its a what happened

I just cant buy the Tex was the mastermind theory,C.M. was not a follower and he certainly was not taking orders from Tex.

Seems extreme that they would murder Shorty for being in the way of ownership of the ranch when they were also heading out to D.V.

Matt said...

Bobby, there was no reason to head out to DV at that point. They weren't sure that they were suspected of anything other than burglary around Chatsworth. The decision to head out to Barker didn't come until around November.

No, they moved to Death Valley in the beginning of September '69. So that would've been right after Shorty's murder. The were arrested in DV in October.

re Diane- she is unbalanced, unhinged and a psychocunt. PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLL.

Of course Tex was no mastermind. He may have murdered though all on his own.

Shorty wasn't in way of them owning the ranch. True they wanted to stay there but I don't think they thought ownership was viable. Besides, killing "security" just gets you more security, not the ranch.

Maybe he was just squealing. Or maybe they thought he had something.

Col, I have two good sources telling me that Shorty was NOT arrested on that Aug. 16 raid. Al Springer has said that Shorty was not even there when he had left about 2 am that morning, just some 4 hours before the raid.

This is like "Dr Who" and "Timeslip." They were arrested on 10th & 12th October.
