I will rebut and then agree to disagree.

Do you think that Doris, on hearing that her sole surviving daughter was determined that NO Family associate currently in the slams for any of the murders was ever released, would admonish her for any specific public act that she has undertaken for that purpose?

I doubt you could make that argument persuasively. I think Debra is doing what Doris would do. Remember when Doris called Suzanne LaBerge "a stupid bitch" (caught on film) for forgiving Charles Watson? Classy? No. Understandable? Yes.

As to whether Doris thought that it would only be appropriate to focus on those who murdered her daughter, she founded an advocacy group that extended the sentences of hundreds, maybe thousands of felons, and made their sentences harsher.

With regard to the internet, it's been a factor since way before Debra took the reigns, and it can cut both ways, as a tool for victim's advocates and to build sympathy for the murderers. The need to "own that battlespace", as well as the fact that she is a sole surviving immediate family member, may add to her sense of urgency.

I think the crux of your arguments against Debra boil down to her style, which obviously sets you off. Fair enough. Personally, I hate Heather Mills McCartney. You can (and will) continue to hate Debra Tate on your own blog.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14352935.post-22559463534702741512008-04-22T23:55:00.000-07:002008-04-22T23:55:00.000-07:00also thanks to the internet, YES the chances are w...also thanks to the internet, YES the chances are way lessColScotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04198505620789173534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14352935.post-49689229899878186932008-04-22T23:54:00.000-07:002008-04-22T23:54:00.000-07:00bzzzt wrongNeither Doris or Patti showed up at a L...bzzzt wrong
Neither Doris or Patti showed up at a Leslie or Bruce hearing EVAH.
Neither would have issued a press statement about Susan Atkins being sick.
They were smart classy broads.
They made sure that Sharon's killers stayed in jail. Bob and Leslie have a shot.

Debra may have deep seated emotional issues which manifest themselves in attention whoring and other horrible ways. I don't know.

However, it seems perfectly understandable that she has assumed the role that she has. I don't think that she is seeking anymore attention than her predecessors, Doris and Patricia. The chances for parole of the murderers are not less now than when Patricia was alive, and she showed up at parole hearings and made statements to the media.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14352935.post-16946760451309245992008-04-22T18:21:00.000-07:002008-04-22T18:21:00.000-07:00I think Debra Tate's behavior of late has been app...I think Debra Tate's behavior of late has been appropriate. Her public statements are on message, and she has been effective in publicizing the case. Publicity is unfortunately necessary from her point of view, as public opinion, not legal necessity, is the reason that none of the convicted Family have been freed.

It's easy to forget, but there was a reasonable chance at one point (the late 80's) that certain of the incarcerated would be paroled. I think Doris Tate's activism put the nibs on that. Debra Tate is doing the work that needs to be done to ensure that there are no paroles.

Thats bad if you think some of the murderers should be paroled. There is no reason that I can think of that SHE should feel that way.

I don't have any beefs with her. I think if she had a choice between her minor celebrity and having her sister back she'd take her sister, and that's all that matters from my point of view. As for her problems with her father, who knows what went on between them?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14352935.post-10172317364583681522008-04-22T12:17:00.000-07:002008-04-22T12:17:00.000-07:00Hi, Col...after I saw this item this morning I fig...Hi, Col...after I saw this item this morning I figured we would be hearing from you again today.
